Roof Top Solar
For many organisations the installation of roof top solar is a simple cost effective route to the production of cheap green energy. Solar PV can be installed not only on South facing roofs but also on East and West facing or even North facing roofs (with a shallow gradient). In most cases planning consent is not required. A rooftop solar array not only reduces costs, it allows accurate 25 year financial forecasting, improves EPC scoring, relives pressure on the National Grid, helping with their capacity issues, and provides a visual indicator of the occupiers green credentials.
Ground Mounted Solar
Installation of a ground mounted solar array can make use of space on both green and brownfield sites for optimal and high volume generation. Ground mounting potentially allows for a bigger system with the option to use a tracker to maintain a single solar axis, this can increase output by in excess of 20%. Generally ground mounted arrays, require planning permission, have slightly higher up front costs and require security fencing. Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging
New petrol and diesel cars will be banned from sale by 2030. EV's and charging facilities are already a vital part of the employers infrastructure. Employers with off street parking can benefit from the government funded Workplace Charging Scheme, which reduces the cost a new workplace EV charge point by 75% , capped at £500 per socket and a maximum of 20 charge points.
